Professional Bio

For over 3 decades I have been a Registered Dietitian/Medical Nutrition Therapist, specializing in Eating Disorders in all levels of care.

I began my career working as the Nutrition Program Coordinator in the Willow Creek Eating Disorders Program at Samaritan Behavioral Health Center in Scottsdale, AZ. I later moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where for 3 years functioned as The Director of Nutrition Inpatient and Outpatient Services for The Eating Disorder Program at Forest View Psychiatric Hospital. I also maintained a private practice with C.T.E.D.-Comprehensive Treatment for Eating Disorders for 8 years, and for 4 years working side by side with Dr. Patricia Dauser ED.D in Muskegon, Mi. I later returned to Arizona in 2003 to join Rosewood Women’s Center For The Treatment of Eating Disorders in Wickenburg, AZ where I worked for 3 years as The Director of Nutrition Services. I have spent time developing eating disorder nutrition protocols for Remuda Ranch as well as working at the outpatient level of care with Healthy Futures Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), A New Beginning, and The Healthy Weigh Out in Scottsdale, AZ.

I have specialized experience in the re-feeding of high medical risk cases, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), and I only work within a complete treatment team model. It is a policy of my practice that all clients must be working with a therapist with whom I may consult with in order to begin medical nutrition counseling sessions.

I earned my B.S. undergraduate degrees in both counseling psychology and clinical nutrition from Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe, AZ. I also did my pre-professional practice program (AP4) and my graduate degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from ASU. I am a member of the Academy of  Nutrition and Dietetics (ADA), The Arizona Dietetic Association, Academy for Eating Disorders, The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and the International Federation for Eating Disorder Dietitians.

Science based nutrition, exercise, cooking, and sharing the combination of the three experiences with friends and family are personal as well as professional interests. My husband, four sons, two daughters, and I live in the North Phoenix area. I see clients locally between my office in Scottsdale and North Phoenix as well as virtually through my HIPPA and PCI-compliant telehealth platform from anywhere across the United States.

My mission is to:

  1. Help clients to stop obsessing over food.

  2. Start appreciating their bodies.

  3. Increase body trust

  4. Normalize natural eating cues in a way that helps to promote optimal physical and emotional health

Emphasizing TRUST and SAFETY is a key element to my practice. I use humor and metaphor, helping clients to laugh, honor their achievements, and problem solve when we get stuck. I also provide a direct, yet compassionate, support style to help conquer even the most defiant and resisting eating disorders. Everything I do is done so my clients may feel relief in knowing they no longer have to do what ED says because:
